CBNL doubles mobile backhaul capacity for LTE networks

- CBNL launches VectaStar wideband products to provide 600Mb/s backhaul capacity for macro and small cell next generation networks

CBNL, the global leader in multipoint microwave backhaul and access technologies, has today announced the launch of new VectaStar Gigabit and VectaStar Metro wideband products, doubling platform capacity to 600Mb/s.

The extra performance will allow operators to meet the increased data demands of next generation networks like LTE and 4G, providing customers with faster mobile speeds and serving the growing trend for multimedia services.

LTE networks are rapidly gaining momentum. According to the GSMA, nearly 500 LTE networks are forecast to be in service by 2017, spanning 128 countries and with more than one billion connections.

Substantial consumer demand is driving the need for high-speed wireless data services and increasing pressure on operators to provide the capacity needed to handle the huge data demands from smartphones, tablets and new technologies such as M2M.

It is vital for operators that high capacity backhaul infrastructure is available which not only meets the data demands of next generation networks, but also delivers a low cost per bit of data.

The availability of highly efficient backhaul solutions like VectaStar, which provides the capacity for the world’s most modern and busiest mobile networks, is vital to build profitable and sustainable business models for operators.

Lionel Chmilewsky, Chief Executive Officer, CBNL, said,

“LTE and 4G gives consumers and businesses vast economic opportunities and has the potential to be truly transformative. However, there are many factors to consider when managing and constructing next generation networks, not least the technical and cost requirements applicable for mobile backhaul.

"The huge volumes of data which these networks are capable of generating continues to drive operators to deploy new and innovative backhaul solutions.

“With the launch of the VectaStar wideband products, CBNL is committed to providing the performance and quick time to market that operators demand, along with total cost of ownership savings of up to 50% over alternative forms of backhaul.

"We expect the new products to play a central role in the evolution of operators’ networks and continue to build CBNL’s position as the clear market leader in PMP microwave.”

Delivering up to 4.8Gb/s per hub site, VectaStar’s flexible wideband platform saves valuable spectral resources and equipment through aggregating traffic from multiple cell sites.

This intelligently allocates backhaul, enterprise access or converged network capacity where it is needed most and provides a platform which is easily scalable as capacity demands grow.

CBNL will be exhibiting at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (24-27 February) in Hall 5, Stand 5H27 demonstrating the new high capacity VectaStar wideband products. If you are interested in meeting with CBNL at the show, please contact cwright@cbnl.com.
